
Switch to good carbs
A fist sized portion of starchy carbs at every meal will stabilise your energy levels and help curb your appetite. Best for weight loss are the slow-releasing (sometimes known as low GI) types. They also tend to be higher in fibre which makes them more stomach-filing.
What to eat...wholewheat pasta, grainy bread, brown basmati rice, beans, lentils, whole grain breakfast cereals, muesli, oats, porridge and boiled new potatoes.
What to cut down on...white bread, mashed potatoes, corn flakes, white rice, cakes, biscuits, sugar.
